Grupo Faustino began its project in the Ribera del Duero in the 1990s with the purchase of land in the areas of Roa, Gumiel de Izán, Villanueva and Gumiel de Mercado. It then planted vineyards which, after a selection and ripening process, gave rise to Portia 2003, the winerys first wine. Its efforts were rewarded when the wine was given first prize as the Best Tempranillo in the World at the international competition held in Cologne, Germany.
